So part of the goal of sites like this is building community. This thread is a place for just random discussions and chit chat among folks, observations, comments, complaints, real life announcements (births, engagements, etc. etc.), or whatever you feel like talking about.

That sounds cool MRP, especially cool if it's a general chit-chat thread.
I don't really have a lot to bring into the fold other than I have found a great website which examines and really looks into the relationship between Urbanism and resource extraction, which may or may not be useful at work for me - I've also recently got a Promotion which, not only provides me with more money, but it's also great for me in a career point of view, as I am now considered to be an Onsite Consultant rather than a Graduate level/Junior Consultant. Pretty decent for my first year providing onsite records management...
Since we're asking questions, and I don't want to derail this site from being great because I really do think we're going to be doing brilliant stuff here - are there any plans to revive Earth617?

That's be up to buck. I think things can get spread thin and I know I cannot take on more than 1 fan fic project currently but I still have those ideas form the aborted attempt last time, so I might have something to say on it later. Unfortunately for fan fic, I just got about 6 different ideas for strips/series of original material over the last few days (most coalesced being involved in the mellowness of the night last night) that I want to get to jotting down into the idea book and developing a bit, so I am not sure how my time is going to shake out over the next few months. I am getting edgy, which always happens before I go into a balls to the wall productive phase, it's just a matter of how long til it hits full force and how long it lasts. It's almost a manic phase of productivity and I haven't had one since the early period of the last Marvel617 attempt, so it's due. I usually maintain some more even keeled productivity, but occasionally have these dry snaps and then manic periods. It's been a dry snap here for a bit, so here's hoping.

For the life of me, I cannot do Marvel fanfiction... I've tried really hard and had a relatively successful run on X-Men back at the original sites in like 2005. Weelll, successful because it lasted 10 issues, but it fucking sucked hardcore. But yeah, either way, I can't find a place to make Marvel characters my own. Probably because each character only has one definitive version. With DC you have, Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, Post Zero Hour, multiple Earth versions, ect.
Plus DC's B-Z list is so much stronger than Marvel's.
I'd definitely be interested in giving it a try, but I'd much rather build this site to reach its potential.

As of right now 617 is not going to be revived, but if we reach a point where DC is mined out I think we could reconsider that option.

For me, Marvel would be more fanfiction than DC. I'd tell one quick story and be done with it. I've never really been able to think long term with Marvel. I did have a Guardians of the Galaxy story that I really liked at our Old UDC's sister site, but it ended up being more of a Doctor Who story than a Guardians of the Galaxy story. It was really Ultimate nuWho when it came down to it. He was going to end up traveling with Kitty Pryde and his inspiring nature led to Norin Radd becoming Silver Surfer. It would have been great... haha.

So, as you guys know - It was my Birthday at the end of last month, and I got given, amongst some other bits and pieces, a gift card for twenty five quid to spend on summink.
So, I'm trawling around on ebay - there's certain characters that I like to collect (Swamp Thing and Animal Man being some) but I really, really enjoyed the Justice League Elite. Anyone else love those guys?
Not just because Manchester Black is telepathic John Constantine. (Which I find funny because John is a Manc written often like he's from London and Manchester is a London geeza.) And, you know it's obviously a Authority parody, given that Authority was a sort of Parody of the Justice League. Parody Squared? At any rate, I love the Elite, and Vera Black, Manitou Dawn and even Menagerie. (Cow.)
So, I ended up buying the Justice League Elite Series, and also, the Veitch Question series which was wonderful.

He certainly did in Final Crisis.
I've always thought that is something Marvel does exceptionally well, but DC ignores with the exception of the Greeks. The God elements...think about it...the amount of alien races out there, there's got to be some Alien Gods. We've seen X'Hal, and her Son. We've seen a few from Krypton, but...really, DC doesn't bother so much with the pagan gods. It's all Greeks or "The Presence".
DC proper that is. Lucifer had loads of other Pagan gods.

There's too many pics for me to repost it all here, but I started a photo tour of chez MRP! here at the classic comics forums. I have been doing a reset of my comic room and studio for a few months now and am about 90% done, so snapped some pics of the house today.... -M

I've come to hate the last Thursday of the month because it means Diamond orders are due, and nothing sucks the fun and enjoyment out of comics like writing a Diamond order for a comic shop...

Yeah definitely sounds like it would suck the life out of the hobby.
On a side note, how is everyone's writing going? I finally am getting settled in a little bit after the move and have been typing away on Batman #1 hoping to have it on the stands by the first week of October.

So, having spent the weekend in London, we visited Orbital Comics, wherein I spent more money than required/we had, on some trades.
Picked up Ellis' Black Summer, because I did get it for Last Christmas, but my Mother somehow managed to acquire it for me in German....and Ellis' Moon Knight, along with the first issue of Multiversity, which, is still amazing. Also, Abe Sapien: The Drowning, because the only character cooler than Abe is Johan.
In a few weeks time, it will be the Birmingham Comic Con, which should be grand because I also get lots of nice goodies there, and this year I am accompanied by two women, one my wife, and the other who looks an astonishing amount like my wife. So, that's fun. (Leads to potentially awkward situations, like my standing unreasonably close behind her for a long time thinking she was my wife, but realised my mistake when my wife actually turned up at the other side of the room...)

Hey guys, I like this new site. I've been lurking a while, thinking about titles. Still unsure, but I'll ask around, see what plans people have for certain characters. In the mean time, I'll review. I think I've read the issues that are currently out. Hope it keeps growing!
