Ok just about done with the office/studio, so took some pics to share with you all...still have a few minor details to wrap up (fill in some space on some shelves, etc.) Ok the view from the doorway, left side then right side of the room... from inside the room, this is the corner you can't see from the entryway because the door is in the way... the curio case in the corner is the sole holdout from when this was the spare bedroom, but it holds a ton of Amy's knickknacks and mementos so it stays put. from the opposite corner here is the doorway where the first pics were taken... Next post will offer some close ups & detail shots. -M

The workspaces.... My desk.... complete with Hawkman and Ghost Rider figures, and my drawing board... The Frazetta poster is a promo poster for the Wilderlands of High Fantasy revision that came out about a decade ago, and the 2 D&D books are the original Basic/Expert rules from the early 80s, signed by the artist Erol Otus at Gen Con several years ago.... -M

More from the room... Next to the entrance, some Charles Vess prints from the Ballads and Sagas portfolio, Secret Origins #10 (Phantom Stranger origins) signed by Mike W. Barr and Millennium's Doc Savage Man of Bronze #1 signed by Darl Banks (one of his earliest pre-GL books). The calendar is the DC Bombshells calendar and September is Wonder Woman month... The post cards are an Action #1 history of comics card and a pair from the Kevin Maguire Justice League set of cards that came out in the late 80s. On the other side of the entrance are some knick knack shelves, the top shelf is the Wal-Mart exclusive Stormtrooper nad Dewback pop vinyl just released for Force Friday, some of my wife's Star Wars Micro Machine vehicles from the 90s and my Dr. Strange tsotchkes, including the 7-11 Clea Slurpee cup from the 70s, some Heroclix and a pair of Doc action figures (one from the recent 3.75 inch scale line, one from the Spider-Man animated series line from the 90s. Next to that is my Doc wall, featuring the limited Kevin Nowlan Doc print, a pair of Silver Age Doc issues, the MArvel Milestone edition reprinting the first 4 Doc stories and the last Doc annual signed by Kyle Hotz, the interior artist. -M

Continuing in the room... next to the closet with the Bombshells calendar is a bunch of bookcases. the tall narrow case holds a bunch of fantasy fiction and the bulk of my Dr. Strange reading material, plus the MArvel Legends Doc figure... Next to it I have a pair of bookcases that house my art and writing reference books, and most of my fantasy and sci-fi prose books... above those shelves you can see a facsimile edition of Nick Fury #4 form the Marvel Legends line, one of my favorite Steranko covers, a Darwyn Cook Justice League variant, my museum replica Egyptian papyri, a statue of a Greek Warrior I picked up at an estate sale, a horde of PVC Snoopy figures, and the Batman '66 pop vinyl Batmobile. A close up of the statue and surroundings, you can see an Alex Ross Superman print in the background, there is a matching Batman print above it... the other case top, featuring the oversized Pen and Ink Edition of Hit from BOOM! an excellent noir comic-these are scaled down editions of the IDW Artit's Editon and much more affordable. Plus Dave Sim's guide to self-publishing. -M

Continuing along... The far wall..that spinning bookcase retail display unit is brand spanking new, picked it up form an estate sale this weekend. Atop it sits the Colossal Red Dragon figure from the Dungeons & Dragons miniature line and my wife and I have loaded the fixture up with or RPG books. You can see my djembe ( a type of tribal drum) next to it as well. The corner next to that fixture... featuring my media shelf and some more art/books. In the corner is my museum replica Templar broadsword... the media rack holds all my comic related DVDs, Blue-Rays and prose books... Above it we have 3 framed pieces..an IDW Color Classic editioon of the Donatello solo one shot, signed and sketeched on by Kevin Eastman when I met him at a con last year, a Tellos print by Mike Wieringo, and the Darwyn Cook variant of Fox #1 signed by its writer, Mark Waid next to that we have the Wonder-Wall... featuring a pair of Bombshell variant covers featuring Wonder Woman, an original page featuring Wonder Woman vs. Red Sonja by a local comic artist named Brian LAttimer that I got in a charity auction for the Hero Initiative last year, and a Wonder WOman sketch cover I also commisioned from Brian at the same con. That's now my workspace...I just need to start putting it to good use and get off my ass and write and draw some stuff.... -M
