How's everyone doing? I'm furiously bashing away at the keyboard here before I go to bed. I've got my scene breaks in, i've edited a bit and I'm roughly about 1200 words in, with a couple more scenes to go, so I reckon, I should hit the magic 4,000 by Wednesday, all things being equal.
Sorry it's taken so long, many things in the fire at the moment with work, one of the guys in our team has been laid off, so it's taken the legs out of what I'm doing a wee bit.
How about the rest of you guys? How's it going?

I hit a bit of a road block over the weekend as I was hoping the issue would be done yesterday. I'm doing some scenes in Ancient Egypt and I didn't want to have too many areas where it wasn't historically accurate. I'm not going to go too far out of my way to include things just to prove that I did research (that's always lame), but I didn't want to say that Katar rested his head on his pillow and have pillows not exist. Little things like that.
But it will be up by the end of the week. I don't think issue 2 will take me so long. I have a ton of stories I want to tell, but this origin is giving me hell.

By way of update, I will be posting Sentinel's #2 tomorrow, or Sunday. It's basically written and edited, I just need to have the opportunity to give it one last run through, and upload.
I'm visiting a friend from Arizona to experience my first Thanks Giving tomorrow, and I was at a Wedding Yesterday, so I didn't get back from that til gone 1am.
How's everyone else doing?

As my nearly final act towards Issue One and as I sit on it for a few hours, I crafted my scene breaks. Bit bigger than I like and I hope to be able to find something better in the future.

I'm doing a slight retool of my second issue, but it's going pretty solidly. I decided my story felt too much like a formula rather than an organic story. I had three characters appear in every issue and then had them meet in pairs. It was fine, but I had too much trouble staying that strict and making things feel creative.
It shouldn't lead to any delays though.

I've knocked out a few scenes for Batman #2 but this month has just been flying by I should be able to really dig in the next few days though.

My parents go to bed at like 9, so I'll probably do a writing sprint on Christmas Eve after they go to bed. I'd like to finish by the end of the weekend rather than push it to the wire. I love writing, but I'm not sure that's how I want to spend my New Year's Eve.

My parents go to bed at like 9, so I'll probably do a writing sprint on Christmas Eve after they go to bed. I'd like to finish by the end of the weekend rather than push it to the wire. I love writing, but I'm not sure that's how I want to spend my New Year's Eve. Gods... I spent last New Years Eve reading my way through 25 page contest entry from my least favorite author that my boss knew I despised as a favor to her. *shivers at the memory* and I spent the days leading up to Christmas judging three more. Or maybe it was the author I despised that was part of the three that were read right before Christmas... And the horrible thing is they ended up publishing that damn author anyways though he didn't win the contest. I ranked him so low. Then later on towards my birthday, I got another call for a favor to do the formatting and remove certain sections of the entire novel. On my end of progress, Issue 2 shouldn't take too long to wrap up given I've done all the major introductions so far. My goal is to try to speed blitz my way through Young Rogues before the year is out (or at least the new one is well underway) as a bit of symmetry with The Flash. I'm trying to treat it like an "event comic" too.

So my Christmas issue will be late (clearly). Last week was hell to write during despite the house being nearly empty, but I managed to hammer out a scene tonight and have two more to knock out before the issue is complete. Though I'm starting to feel like I am going too big with my city-wide events too soon as I have several dangling plot lines.

So, despite the powerful jetlag that had me up at 3.30 this morning, my Laptop, which I was writing #3 on, decided to blue screen itself out of existence today, which is somewhat frustrating. Not only can I not print my course notes, but I have also lost, like, 2000 words. Annoying.
Fortunately, I am working from home this Friday, so will be able to dedicate, some time, to re-writing the lost issue....

*cracks fingers* I'm determined to finish Issue 4 today so that I can get March out of the way before my usual, self-fulfilling prophecy of Birthday Funk hits. Should be a fun issue or at least the bits I haven't wrote yet should be fun since it's another "out of element" issue.

Awesome. In between spreadsheets and analysis today, I managed to write probably, the bulk of #4 which is grand. I am hoping that I can get #4 up in the next few days, and then #5 very shortly - I want to, not only meet continuity, but also to make sure I keep Sentinels!

Putting together bits and pieces of what I want Weird Worlds to be. All still very much broad strokes right now, research, concept work, breaking down spines of stories, character sketches, etc. but starting to get a feel for it.

Creation. Entropy. Order. Chaos.
Light. Darkness.
Life. Death.
What is. What isn't.
These things are eternal. Endless. To know one, you must know its opposite, for they define each other and cannot exist without the other.
These dichotomies are the pillars of all this is, was or will be. The dualistic nature is ingrained, undeniable, and inexplicable. In each of these ages, champions arise. Some serving one force, some the other.
The eternal struggle.
Some try to understand them, see them as they ebb and flow, a cycle of one then the other a tide that flows throughout existence.
On a world known as earth, of its ancient civilizations called them yugas, a cycle that repeats and folds in on itself endlessly-The Satya Yuga, or age of truth flows to the Treta Yuga or age of man, flows to the Dvarpara Yuga or age of compassion, and finally to the Kali Yuga, or Age of Darkness before starting over again.
Yet this is not a story of earth alone. It is a story that encompasses many worlds, many universes, and many realities.
Familiar worlds. Strange worlds.
Weird Worlds... -M

Right now I am looking at exploring the stories of five potential "Eternal Champions" to explore 3 of which held that status in the DC Comics they appeared in, 2 of which I added for reasons of my own.
So far on the docket of potentialities...
-Donovan Flint, leader of the Star Hunters
-Claw the Unconquered
-Starfire I (not the Tamaran princess)
-The Stalker
-Katar Hol of the savage Hawkworld Thanagar
and still exploring a number of storytelling formats that include prose and possibly more graphic storytelling formats as well. Again a lot of this is still gestating and evolving and it may change before I get to actually posting anything content wise. But it is simmering slowly waiting to be served up...

Hashed out the broad strokes of Starfire and broke down the opening installment into major beats. Hashed out the broad strokes of Claw but still trying to figure the best way to open up that one. Broke down the opening sequence of Hawkworld into beats as well. Started doing some character write ups/word sketches for the cast of Star Hunters, and broke down he general mythos of the chosen champion motif in its broad strokes. Playing with a few ideas on Stalker but not finalized anything yet.

Not at first, I may rotate some features in as I progress. The plan is to do something akin o a pulp like Weird Tales or a mag like Heavy Metal where there are some recurring features, but not everything will be in every issue. As a story finishes I may do something different will start and then I will return to the previous after a while. That's the long view anyways.
