The kick of seeing people react to what you have written. The thrill of being asked to sign something you have written. Seeing an artist turn your words into images. Simply put, writers write and you can't sit there waiting to be inspired. Write. Every day. Even if it's garbage. A lot of people want to have written, very few put the nose to the grindstone and actually write. It's work. It's hard. And it's worth every damn second of agony and toil it takes.

Moment in comics history most influenced/made you a comics fan...
as a kid the Final Threat and Bride of Ultron stories mentioned above, in '86 (high school) the DC Renaissance and indy boom showing me what more comics were capable of (Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Usagi Yojimbo, Turtles, Dreadstar, Chaykin's American Flagg, Grell's Jon Sable, and that there was more to comics than super-heroes, and as an adult discovering Will Eisner and Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics at about the same time (mid 90's).
Questions specific to writing for this site will be answered at some point in the future...when there are answers to give.

Name: Ed
Age: 29
What do you do?: Information and Records Management Consultant in the Oil Industry
Hobbies and/or interests: Reading comics/novels, writing, Sci-Fi, CCGs, Video Games...just a general level of nerdery.
How long have you been writing?
Been doing fanfic for a decade now, which is mad, but I've been writing for years and years before that.
Do you write anything non-fan fiction?
Half finished novel, several completed short stories, several half started short stories, quite a few proposals, some finished screenplays and a half drawn page of a comic.
What are your main inspirations when writing?
I want to write things that are not real. Like, reality is in our faces all the time, with the news and going to work. The general grind of day to day...I want to write fantastical things that don't happen. So, I try and turn whatever the hell my brain gravy creates and make it words.
Would you like to write for a comic company?
Oh, sure. I'd love to write for DC, Marvel. Anyone really. I'd love to write professional comics, but not sure if I am A) Good enough B) have the right sort of ideas.
Who is your favorite comic writer? Novelist?
Toss up between Morrison or Ellis.
Morrison because of the completely brilliant nature of his writing, and Ellis for the seriously abusive dialogue.
Novelists? Mike Carey is great, and I loved his Felix Castor series. I am also a really huge fan of Kate Griffin who wrote the Matthew Swift series. That's a stonker.
Who is your favorite comic characters? Marvel? DC? Other?
DC - Animal Man, Fate (Stevens), Martian Manhunter and Jack Hawksmoor Marvel - Doctor Strange, Mr. Fantastic, Adam Warlock Other - Hellboy
What is your favorite comic story? Marvel? DC? Other?
God. Tough one.
Probably my favourite has to be the opening Arc of Authority, and also the first...25 issues of Animal Man by Morrison.
What moment in comic history most influenced you/made you a comic fan?
You know what? My first proper Marvel/DC comic was the an Amalgam Trade Paperback, and that is what really made it.
Why did you choose your character(s) to write?
Hopefully, if I get the characters, I really love writing the younger generation of characters. My favourite characters are nature based and elemental types, so the chance to kind of...make my own, is really cool. I'm most excited to write Mr. Miracle, Barda and Shazam.
What character that you did not claim would you like to try your hand at most?
Martian Manhunter would be one. J'Onn is such a great character.

Not recently
What are your main inspirations when writing?
To tell a fun story
Would you like to write for a comic company?
Sure, but it's not something I'm likely to ty to do
Who is your favorite comic writer? Novelist?
For comis it's Ellis, followed by Brian K. Vaughn. For novels my favourite series is written by Derek landy but there is something really entertaining about Matthew Reilly's books
Who is your favorite comic characters? Marvel? DC? Other?
Marvel: the Runaways, Deadpool, She Hulk, Captain Marvel(Carol Danvers), Kamala Khan DC; Stephanie Brown, Superman, Guy Gardner Other: Way too many to name.
What is your favorite comic story? Marvel? DC? Other?
Nextwave is my favourite comic story, it's up there for favourite story. brian K Vaughn's Runaways is second followed by Bryan Q Miller's Batgirl.
What moment in comic history most influenced you/made you a comic fan?
Runaways, I became a fan of that series from reading up on it on wikipedia and when i finally got my hands on it it did not disappoint.
Why did you choose your character(s) to write?
Well I haven't chosen yet but I'm probably going to choose a bunch of characters who usually don't interact, which would be the main reason I'd choose them

Name: Chris
Age: 26
What do you do?: Paralegal, but I'm looking at changing that soon.
Hobbies and/or interests: Reading and Writing, of course. I like to cook. History, Politics and stuff like that, which is what I studied in school. The History of Comics really is really fascinating to me (which is why I tend to gravitate towards the Golden Age). I also am a big fan of the Buffalo Bills.
How long have you been writing? I think I wrote my first story back in Second Grade and I've been doing it ever since. My current roommate and I created a comic book company when we were in Middle School. And I joint a site very similar to this in 2004.
Do you write anything non-fan fiction? I have four or five ideas floating around for original stories that I'd like to get down at some point. I'm very protective of them and I'd like to be a much better writer when I start working on them.
What are your main inspirations when writing? My life, the news, friends of mine. A good writer should pull inspiration from everywhere.
Would you like to write for a comic company? Yeah, probably. I'd love to work for DC, but not the way the current company is running. Also any of my original concepts could easily be done as creator owned comics. Too bad I can't draw.
Who is your favorite comic writer? Novelist? Comics: Brian K. Vaughan, Grant Morrison, Mark Waid, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker would make a solid top 5. I'd also say Pre-Infinite Crisis Geoff Johns. Novels: Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, Michael Chabon, Cormac McCarthy, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Who is your favorite comic characters? Marvel? DC? Other? Marvel: Magneto, Professor X, Captain America, Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell), The Thing DC: Starman (Jack Knight), Doctor Fate, Stargirl, The Flash, Hawkman & Hawkgirl Other: I don't really focus on characters in Indie Comics. I tend to gravitate towards well told stories, which the characters are a major part of.
What is your favorite comic story? Marvel? DC? Other? Marvel: Days of Future Past, always tends to stand out to me. Marvels is great. The Galactus Saga, Doctor Strange The Oath. DC: All of Johns' JSA, James Robinson's Starman, Superman For All Seasons, DC: New Frontier, Hester/Smith/Meltzer/Winnick Green Arrow. I could go on and on Other: Stories are predicated on endings, and seeing as the only non-DC and Marvel books I'm reading haven't really ended yet, I can't say. I'd be surprised if Saga, East of West and Revival don't end up here.
Why did you choose your character(s) to write? I've always kind of wanted to do a Mr. Terrific/Dr. Mid-Nite buddy cop story, so this will be that with more scope. Buck also always said that I under utilized them in my prior Ultimate JSA title on the old site. So, this will be their vehicle.
What character that you did not claim would you like to try your hand at most? There are a ton. I'm probably going to stick with Golden Age properties, but you never can tell. I would love to tackle Superman or Batman, but I can't help but think that they would end up as derivative.
