Been thinking about maybe picking up Wheel of Time comics (Both New Spring and the multiple volumes of Eye of the World) especially since they were adapted by Chuck Dixon (and are currently cheap as hell on amazon) but the last time I bought an adaption it was so, so, so very bad. Checking to see if in the unlikelihood any of you guys have ever read them or at least heard good things.

Sorry, don't tend to read adaptations as comics - rather read the book itself, for the reason you've stated above.

The New Spring adaptation was actually pretty good, I haven't read it all but I read about half of it in floppies I picked up in bargain bins and enjoyed them. The Eye of the World stuff, not so much, I tried the first trade out of the library and if anything the pacing in the adaptations is even slower than Jordan himself, literally nothing of interest happens in some issues. The art is also only so so in the Eye of the World stuff, it's Dynamite and they never pay well for artists, getting the cheapest they can find seemingly for books like that.

I'm heavily tempted to get New Spring since the story is complete and compact plus... ELYAS CAMEO!!! I was kinda meh towards the whole New Spring book except for the Siuan bits though.

The first issue of Wheel of Time is currently available for free at Bleeding Cool in digital format. Dynamite provides 1 free book a week to BC usually a first issue of an older series, so if you want to check it out in the next few days, the link is here-M
